Bible topic series

Welcome to the Sound Truth Ministries Online Bible Topic Series. Our aim is to make it easier to find common Bible studies, lessons, and snacks. They will help you know God’s word better. Bible study can help you grow in the Lord.

James 1:22-25

Do what God’s word says. Don’t merely listen to it, or you will fool yourselves. 23 If someone listens to God’s word but doesn’t do what it says, he is like a person who looks at his face in a mirror, 24 studies his features, goes away, and immediately forgets what he looks like.

25 However, the person who continues to study God’s perfect laws that make people free and who remains committed to them will be blessed. People like that don’t merely listen and forget; they actually do what God’s laws say. (GW) [Read James 1:21-27]

NOTE: We intentionally listed some Bible lessons, studies, or snacks more than once.

A brief explanation of the current series:

  • Fruit of the Spirit – The “Fruit of the Spirit” is the divine nature of God that works through us for all to see. This topic is first on purpose as it is not taught enough. Jesus said in Matthew 7:20 So it is by the fruit of their lives that you will know such people. (OEB)
  • Communication – Our focus is to make us aware of the words we use and how we use them. The words we use are very important. Our choice of words shows who we are. They express our point of view; how we feel about people and things.
  • Faith – Faith is the firm belief in God without needing proof that He exists. It is firm trust in the Bible and in Jesus for salvation. “…without faith, it is impossible to please God…” [Read Hebrews 11:4-7 (key and quote from verse: 6)]
  • LoveGod’s Love – God’s love for people is not earned. It is a result of mercy and His will. Our Love – Love for God and people is a strong, selfless, and kind feeling. It grows to become trust and devotion.
  • Endurance – As children of God, we must go through many things. Keep your hope and faith in God to bring you through.
  • Prayer – A prayer is a quiet or vocal talk with God. Show awe, give thanks, and praise. Tell Him you are sorry for doing wrong and ask Him to forgive you. Then ask for the things you need.
  • Salvation – Jesus paid the cost to set us free from the penalty for sin. He shed His blood for that freedom.
  • Sin – Everyone has sinned [Romans 3:23]. Listen! This is the hour to receive God’s favor; today is the day to be saved [2 Corinthians 6:2 (GNT)]!
  • Praise – Let us praise God because He is the I AM. The Lord is everything we need Him to be and more.
  • Forgiveness – To forgive is to give up bitterness against or the desire to punish. The forgiver extends mercy to the other person(s). No longer blaming them for what they did. When you forgive, you stop being angry with the person(s) who offended you.
  • Tithes – Understanding Tithes: You’ll be surprised to learn the truth about what God says about tithing. It’s not what many pastors teach, especially if they say you must tithe!
