STM Bible Snack

Acts 3:16 [read Acts 3:1-26 (16)].
And by [means of] the name [of Jesus], that is, by faith in the [power of His] name, this [crippled] man, whom you now see and know, was healed. Yes, it is the faith that comes through Jesus that is responsible for this man’s perfect health, as you now all see. (AUV)
KJV: And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

How often do you say or think of ‘we walk by faith and not by sight’? Do you understand that walking by your confidence in God requires action? Know that it is doing something and not just believing!

Healing by faith

To summarize this story, Acts 3:1-16: Peter and John came upon a lame man at the ‘Beautiful’ temple gate. This man was here daily asking for charity. On this day Peter says “I do not have silver or gold, but what I have I give, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.”
Strength returned to his feet and ankle bones. The man walked into the temple and began to leap and praise God. Peter told the people who witnessed the healing that it was through belief in Jesus name that healed him.
Have you stepped out on your confidence in God as you walk according to your faith in Jesus?

Jesus responds to acts of complete trust

Throughout the gospels, Jesus saw the complete trust of people and healed them because of their active trust.
Matthew 9:2 and 6 [read Matthew 9:1-8 (2 and 6)].
Some people soon brought to him a man lying on a mat because he could not walk. When Jesus saw how much faith they had, he said to the man, “My friend, don’t worry! Your sins are forgiven.”
6 But I will show you that the Son of Man has the right to forgive sins here on earth.
” So Jesus said to the man, “Get up! Pick up your mat and go on home.
KJV: And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.
6 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.

Are you walking by faith? Know that the Lord sees each step of faith that you take!

Confidence in action

Hebrews 11 is an active faith guide. Because of their faith, Abel offered a better sacrifice to God, God took Enoch from the earth, and Noah built the ark. Abraham obeyed and went out without knowing where he was going. He also offered his son Isaac as a sacrifice trusting God.
2 Corinthians 5:7 [read 2 Corinthians 5:1-8 (7)].
We live by what we believe will happen [by trusting in God], not by what we can see. (ERV)
KJV: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

My friends, I urge you to step out in your reliance on the Lord. Trust Jesus, the faithful God, to work on your behalf. Active trust will meet whatever needs you may have. Now, child of God, step out on that reliance and watch your faith work in Jesus’ name. I pray that you have enjoyed and will make the most of this Bible snack. Blessings to you and your loved ones— Tim. ☺
