Freedom Through Christ, Yes The Son Makes You Free!

Freedom through Christ, the liberator, the one who has set us free from sin. If we continue to sin, then we are slaves of sin. Unfortunately, most people never see it in this way. Please give the Lord 7 minutes of your time to possibly discover something new.

Freedom Through Christ, Yes The Son Makes You Free!

"So if the Son makes you free, then you will be truly free - John 8:36 (ICB)"

STM Bible Snack

John 8:31-36 [read John 8:31-36] – So Jesus said to the Jews who believed in him,
“If you continue to obey my teaching, you are truly my followers. Then you will know the truth. And the truth will make you free.”
They answered,
“We are Abraham’s children. And we have never been slaves. So why do you say that we will be free?”
Jesus answered,
“I tell you the truth. Everyone who lives in sin is a slave to sin. A slave does not stay with a family forever, but a son belongs to the family forever. So if the Son makes you free, then you will be truly free. (ICB)
KJV: Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. 33 They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? 34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. 35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. 36 If the Son, therefore, shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Many believe since they are free—through Christ— they can live as they please and still receive the reward of eternal life. Being free actually means freedom from sin. It is not a license to do anything we want or live a life of sin. Take a look at the discussion above in John 8. Jesus speaks of this religious freedom or liberty, but uses the word ‘free’:

Freedom Through Christ, Yes The Son Makes You Free!

2 Corinthians 3:17 [read 2 Corinthians 3:7-18 (17)]
Now the Lord [i.e., Christ (Acts 10:36; 1 Corinthians 8:6, 12:3; Philippians 2:11)] is the Holy Spirit, and there is freedom [from the bondage of sin and fear] wherever the Spirit of the Lord is. (AUV)
KJV: Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Dead to sin

The Roman church was warned against this in Romans 6:1-4; excerpt from verses 1-2: ‘Should we go on sinning so that grace may increase? Of course not! How can we who died as far as sin is concerned go on living in it?’. (ISV)
1 John 3:7-8 [read 1 John 3:1-10 (7-8)]
Children, don’t be fooled. Anyone who does right is good, just like Christ himself. 8 Anyone who keeps on sinning belongs to the devil. He has sinned from the beginning, but the Son of God came to destroy all that he has done. (CEV)
KJV: Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. 8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Religious Liberty

We have different forms of religion that lead to many ways of living. Some people are not aware of the sin that remains in their life and see no need to change. Changing the way we live is vital to living a life that pleases God.

Romans 6:18 [read Romans 6:15-23 (18)]
As a result, God has made you free from the power of sin. You are now like slaves who serve everything that is right and good. (EASY)
KJV: Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

The moral values of the religious society have changed and being religious or spiritual is not the same for everyone. Once again, I encourage you to study God’s word to get a true understanding of what He requires. The Lord gives us the freedom to live as we like; it is my hope that you will decide to live for Christ.

Slaves of sin

3 points about slavery to sin and right living
1. You are slaves of anyone you obey?
2. Be slaves of sin and die or slaves of God and live.
3. Choose to live right and please God.

Finally, my friends, let us use this freedom through Christ to please God and not indulge in all manner of sinful activities. Be mindful of your activities, make sure they please God! I pray that you have enjoyed this Bible snack. Blessings to you and your loved ones— Tim. ☺
