STM Bible Snack – We will overcome

Romans 8:36-37 [read Romans 8:31-39 (36-37)]
The Holy Writings say [Psalm 44:22], “Because of belonging to Jesus, we are in danger of being killed all day long. We are thought of as sheep that are ready to be killed.” (NLV) 37 But we are able to overcome all these things and more through his love [through Christ]. (BBE)
KJV: As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

Yes, child of God, as stated before, you will have trouble and suffer in this life. But not to the point of getting the best of you unless you let it.

Keep your head up; you will overcome

Hold your head up and put a smile on your face. In the end, we win, i.e., we overcome. This life on earth will not beat us. It might seem that we are losing, but we walk by faith and not by the way things look (2 Corinthians 5:7). Always remember, what keeps us going is what we believe in but have not yet seen. So a few messy conditions will not deter or stop us!

1 Corinthians 15:56-58 [read 1 Corinthians 15:50-58 (56-58]
It is sin that gives death its sting, and it is the law that gives sin its power. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. 58 Therefore, my dear friends, stand firm, unshaken, always diligent in the Lord’s work, for you know that, in union with him, your toil is not in vain. (OEB)
KJV: The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Some people make their own mess

James 3:16 [read James 3:13-18 (16)]
Are you jealous? Are you concerned only about getting ahead? Then your life will be a mess. You will be doing all kinds of evil things. (NIRV)
KJV: For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

7 Words of wisdom from James 3:17 to avoid the mess

  1. Pure wisdom – when God makes people wise, they are holy. (From the Worldwide English (New Testament))
  2. Peaceable – love and live in peace.
  3. Gentle – be meek (not easily provoked or irritated), humble, and without false pride.
  4. Easy to be intreated – easy to please.
  5. Be full of mercy (compassion) and good fruit (deeds).
  6. Without partiality – make a practice of fairness.
  7. Without hypocrisy – don’t pretend to be what you are not.
James 3:17 [read James 3:13-18 (17)]
KJV: But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Now Never Stress About Life’s Mess

Romans 8:3-4 [read Romans 8:1-11 (3-4)]
God went for the jugular when he sent his own Son. He didn’t deal with the problem as something remote and unimportant. In his Son, Jesus, he personally took on the human condition and entered the disordered mess of struggling humanity in order to set it right once and for all. The law code, weakened as it always was by fractured human nature, could never have done that. The law always ended up being used as a band-aid on sin instead of a deep healing of it. 4 And now what the law code asked for but we couldn’t deliver is accomplished as we, instead of redoubling our own efforts, simply embrace what the Spirit is doing in us. (MESSAGE)
KJV: For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

At times, it might seem that God has forgotten us—yes, this life can be a mess, but please do not stress. Certain things and experiences can be stressful, but don’t give up, don’t worry, and have faith that you’ll win in the end.
So endure your struggles with confidence. We will overcome; now never stress about life’s mess. Thank you for taking the time to read this Bible snack. I urge you to make full use of it. Blessings to you and your loved ones— Tim. ☺
