“Your Inheritance – We have been born into a new life which has an inheritance that can’t be destroyed or corrupted and can’t fade away. That inheritance is kept in heaven for you.”
1 Peter 1:4 (GNT)

1 Peter 1:3-5 GOD’S WORD Translation (GW) Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! God has given us a new birth because of his great mercy. We have been born into a new life that has a confidence which is alive because Jesus Christ has come back to life. 4 We have been born into a new life which has an inheritance that can’t be destroyed or corrupted and can’t fade away. That inheritance is kept in heaven for you, 5 since you are guarded by God’s power through faith for a salvation that is ready to be revealed at the end of time.

Child of God, I take great pleasure in telling you that you are an heir of Jesus Christ. What does this mean? You are entitled to receive an inheritance, your inheritance is an eternal right, covenant blessing or promised gift. Heaven is your heritage provided you meet the covenant terms and conditions of the Fathers will (testament). You do know the Bible is God’s will—legal document created to dispose of the testators estate and effects by testament?

Hebrews 7:22 Modern Spelling Tyndale/Coverdale Bible (MSTC) And for that cause was Jesus an establisher of a better testament. Hebrews 8:6 Catholic Public Domain Version (CPDV) But now he has been granted a better ministry, so much so that he is also the Mediator of a better testament, which has been confirmed by better promises.

I hate to do this to you but to fully understand the old vs. new covenants (testaments) read Hebrews 7:11-8:13 (focus verses: 7:11-13, 18-19, 26-28, 8:3-6; key verses: 7:12, 22, 25, 8:6-7, 12-13). Think of it this way, under the Old Testament (covenant/will) the Jews were the only heirs; now under the New Testament (covenant/will) the non-Jews (Gentiles) are also heirs. Stay with this, I use the Scriptures to explain in the next section.

Hebrews 9:11-15 (RKJNT) But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things to come, then, through a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation; 12 Nor by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood, he entered once for all into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption. 13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who are unclean, sanctifies them so their flesh is clean: 14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, cleanse your consciences from dead works to serve the living God? 15 And for this reason he is the mediator of a new covenant, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions committed under the first covenant, those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance.

You are an heir of Christ

Jesus died to put the will in force, Hebrews 9:16-17 tell us “For where there is a will, the death of the testator must be established. For a will is in force only upon death: it has no strength at all while the testator lives.” Keep reading verses 18-27; Hebrews 9:28 (WNT) “so the Christ also, having been once offered in sacrifice in order that He might bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, separated from sin, to those who are eagerly expecting Him, to make their salvation complete.” Are you ‘eagerly expecting Him?’ You should be, you are His heir!

Romans 8:16-17 (RKJNT) The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if indeed we suffer with him that we may also be glorified with him.

James 2:5 Murdock’s Syriac Peshitta NT (Murdock) Hear, my beloved brethren; hath not God chosen the poor of the world, but the rich in faith, to be heirs in the kingdom which God hath promised to them that love him? [Please read James 2:1-13 (key verse: 5)]

Acts 26:17-18 (RKJNT) I will deliver you from the people, and from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, 18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and an inheritance along with those who are sanctified by faith in me.

Your Inheritance
Receive your heritage

“Your Inheritance – Then the King will say to those at His right, “‘Come, my Father’s blessed ones, receive your inheritance of the Kingdom which has been divinely intended for you ever since the creation of the world.”
Matthew 25:34 (WNT)

Matthew 25:31-36 Revised King James NT (RKJNT) When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats: 33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, and the goats on the left. 34 Then shall the King say to those on his right hand, Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 For I was hungry, and you gave me food: I was thirsty, and you gave me drink: I was a stranger, and you took me in: 36 Naked, and you clothed me: I was sick, and you visited me: I was in prison, and you came to me.

Look forward to the day when we will be changed in twinkling of an eye and put on our heavenly bodies; 1 Corinthians 15:50-52 (RKJNT) “Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Behold, I tell you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.” 1 Corinthians 15:58 Contemporary English Version (CEV) “My dear friends, stand firm and don’t be shaken. Always keep busy working for the Lord. You know that everything you do for him is worthwhile.” [Please read 1 Corinthians 15:50-58]

Colossians 1:5, 12 Worldwide English (New Testament) (WE) 5 And also, you are looking ahead to what you will have in heaven. You have heard about it already when the good news was told to you. An Understandable Version (AUV) 12 [May you] give thanks to the Father who has enabled you to share [i.e., eventually] in the inheritance of the saints [i.e., God’s holy people] in [the kingdom of] light.

Colossians 3:23-25 Bible in Basic English (BBE) Whatever you do, do it readily, as to the Lord and not to men; 24 Being certain that the Lord will give you the reward of the heritage: for you are the servants of the Lord Christ. 25 For the wrongdoer will have punishment for the wrong he has done, without respect for any man’s position.

Do not lose your inheritance

Some Bible teachers then and today mislead people, making them think all will inherit God’s kingdom/heaven, this is not true. The Scriptures are clear, as a spiritual legal adviser, I caution you, read them and believe them. Not all will receive the heritage (God’s gift/reward for His obedient and faithful {born-again} children); going to church does not make you an heir, you must meet the terms outlined in the Bible.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 World English Bible (WEB) Or don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortioners, will inherit the Kingdom of God.

Please obey God and not man – Acts 5:29; 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9; 1 Peter 4:17-19

1 Corinthians 6:9 New Life Version (NLV) Do you not know that sinful men will have no place in the holy nation of God? Do not be fooled. A person who does sex sins, or who worships false gods, or who is not faithful in marriage, or men who act like women, or people who do sex sins with their own sex, will have no place in the holy nation of God.

Galatians 5:16-21 (RKJNT) This I say, Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the desires of the flesh. 17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are in conflict with one another: so that you cannot do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are obvious; they are; sexual immorality, impurity, licentiousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, strife, jealousy, fits of rage, selfishness, dissensions, factions, 21 Envy, drunkenness, orgies, and the like: of which I forewarn you, as I have also warned you in the past, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. [Please read Galatians 5:16-25 (key verses: 19-21)]

Analytical-Literal Translation (ALT) But sexual sin and all impurity [or, immorality] or covetous desire [or, greed], stop letting it even be named among you, as is fitting for holy ones, 4 also [neither] indecent behavior [or, obscene speech] and foolish [or, idle] talk nor coarse joking [or, vulgar talk]— the [things] not fitting— but rather thanksgiving. 5 For this you are knowing: that every sexual sinner or unclean [or, impure] [person] or covetous person, who is an idolater, does not have an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Your Inheritance

Revelation 21:1-8 (RKJNT) And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away; and there was no more sea. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice from the throne saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he shall live among them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4 And he shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, or sorrow, or crying, or pain: for the former things have passed away.

5 And he who sits upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said to me, Write: for these words are faithful and true.

6 And he said to me, It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to him who is thirsty, without cost, from the spring of the water of life. 7 He who overcomes shall inherit all these things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8 But the cowardly, and unbelieving, and the vile, and murderers, and the sexually immoral, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and sulphur: which is the second death. [Please read Revelation 21:1-8 (key verse: 7)]

Galatians 3:15 Amplified Bible (AMP) “To speak in terms of human relations, brethren, [if] even a man makes a last will and testament (a merely human covenant), no one sets it aside or makes it void or adds to it when once it has been drawn up and signed (ratified, confirmed).” Jesus was Abrahams ‘seed’ (heir or descendant) of promise {Galatians 3:16}; Galatians 3:22 New International Reader’s Version (NIRV) “But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin. It does so in order that what was promised might be given to those who believe. The promise comes through faith in Jesus Christ.” [Please read Galatians 3:15-29 (key verses: 15-16, 23-29)].

Galatians 3:29 New Century Version (NCV) You belong to Christ, so you are Abraham’s descendants. You will inherit all of God’s blessings because of the promise God made to Abraham. Receive you inheritance and live in bliss forever—Tim.
