Walk By Faith – Faith without works is dead. Make your faith active by doing good deeds. Faith that does nothing is worth nothing. So show your faith by what you do, that is how to walk by faith!
Note: Faith is believing and trusting in Jesus Christ, reaching forward to accept his wonderful gift of salvation. Having faith in every area of your life is fully trusting God. To have faith we must confess that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in our hearts that God raised him from the dead.
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 (NIV)

STM Bible Lesson
Lesson focus: James 2:14-26 (26). Bible lesson background: Learning how to walk by faith is easy if we use the Bible for guidance. From Gill’s Exposition of the Entire Bible – “So faith without works is dead also: a vain thing, useless and unprofitable, can neither justify, nor save, nor prove that a man is justified, or will be saved”.
Focus Scripture
Exactly as a body is dead without a spirit, so faith is dead without actions (good works [of obedience] or deeds). James 2:26 (OEB)
Joy is to have great delight. It is a fruit of the Spirit [Galatians 5:22]. None of us are perfect and God does not expect us to be. Some of us may have thought, ” God cannot forgive me, my sins are the worst sins” or “Can God forgive me?” Remove that guilt. That negative thinking is the enemy trying to distract you from receiving your gifts from God.
Walk By Faith
Another example of how to walk by faith is this. Remove that guilt to experience God’s forgiveness by:
- Stop denying the guilt and recognize the sin.
- Admit the sin to God and ask for forgiveness.
- Let go of the guilt and the sin. Believe God has forgiven you right when you asked.
The third one may be the hardest one to do. As hard as it may be find comfort in knowing Jesus is willing and able to forgive EVERY sin (murder, lying, adultery, sexual impurity, etc.). The bible will show you these kinds of sins and the people who did these sins, and God still decided to not only forgive them but use them. So it is arrogant for us to think that any of our sins are too great for him to cover. The memory of your past may come back to haunt you, but say this as I do, “I have confessed my sins, therefore I am forgiven.” Then you can continue to let go of your past.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 (CEB)
Feel good in knowing God doesn’t hold sins against his people.
“Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord will never count against them.”Romans 4:8 (NIV)
Faith without works is Dead
Through faith, we receive gifts from God. If we had to work for them, then the gifts from God would not be gifts instead they would be obligated to us.
“What does the scripture say? Abraham had faith in God, and it was credited to him as righteousness” Romans 4:3 (CEB)
Now to a laborer, his wages are not credited as a favor or a gift, but as an obligation [something owed to him]. 5 But to the one who does not work [that is, the one who does not try to earn his salvation by doing good], but believes and completely trusts in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited to him as righteousness (right standing with God). Romans 4:4-5 (AMP)
Therefore, we do not have to work for gifts because we have faith. If we are truly living by faith, faith alone will make us do good deeds. The ones who claim to be Christians, but are willfully disobedient to Christ have false or dead faith.
Fake Faith Has No Works
So, do not be easily misled by the ones claiming to be Christians, but do not walk by faith. Instead, let this encourage us to show everyone and encourage everyone how to walk by faith. Since we are right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God. We are wiped clean from sin.
“He concludes, I’ll forever wipe the slate clean of their sins. Once sins are taken care of for good, there’s no longer any need to offer sacrifices for them.” Hebrews 10:17 (MSG)
When James said, “Faith without good deeds is dead” [James 2:26] He meant, that faith in Christ always results in good works. “The righteous person will live by faith.” Romans 1:17
Come to the end of yourself, turn away from sin, and repent. Live for Jesus because He died for you, me, and us. We are forgiven right when we ask him for forgiveness. Faith makes it possible for us to please God. He loves us! Let us win this battle through Him, the great I AM!
Let Us Pray Together
Heavenly Father, You are so awesome that words cannot even describe how great you are. Thank you for being gentle, kind, sweet, slow to anger, caring, merciful, and most of all loving towards us. You express your love to us tremendously, and we greatly appreciate it, although sometimes we may not show it.
Forgive me for ______________, thank you for never counting it against me (Romans 4:8.) Help us to always live by faith and be good believers in faith, that we may be worthy enough to call ourselves your people (Christians). May we live a life that leads by example (2 Corinthians 3:9).
Give us joy in our sufferings, because we know sufferings produce patience, and patience character, and character, hope, and hope does not disappoint us. We know you Jireh have poured out your love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit who has forgiven us. Thank You, we cannot thank you enough. I love you, Amen.
Hopefully this Bible lesson has helped you learn how to walk by faith—♥ Marchelle P. ☺
