The Truth About The One And Only Savior, Jesus!
STM Bible Lesson
Lesson focus: 2 Peter 3:14-18 (18). Bible lesson background: This portion of Peter’s second letter encourages us to be ready, “without spot and blameless,” for the day of the Lord’s return. We must not let false teaching lead us down the wrong path, as Paul reminds us in his Epistles. Finally, we must allow the grace and knowledge that the Lord has given us to help us continue to grow.
God has shown us undeserved graceG5485 by coming to save all people. 12 He taught us to give up our wicked ways and our worldly desires and to live decent and honest lives in this world. 13 We are filled with hope, as we wait for the glorious return of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. 14 He gave himself to rescue us from everything evil and to make our hearts pure. He wanted us to be his own people and to be eager to do right. Titus 2:11-14 (CEV)
- Grace – charis
- G5485 χάρις charis (cha’-ris) n. as it relates to grace in Titus 2:11: good will, loving-kindness, favour.
(a) Thayer’s – pre-eminently of that kindness by which God bestow: favors even upon the ill-deserving, and grants to sinners the pardon of their offences, and bids them accept of eternal salvation through Christ.
(b) My version – grace is the greatest act of love that God gives. To be kind to people who are unworthy. And forgive them for their sins, enabling them to choose Christ for eternal salvation.
[from G5463] KJV: acceptable, benefit, favour, gift, grace(- ious), joy, liberality, pleasure, thank(-s, -worthy).
Jesus is the only one who can save people. His name is the only power in the world that has been given to save anyone. We must be saved through him!” Acts 4:12 (ETR)
FYI, God made it clear, he is the savior
God, the Savior, wants you to receive His salvation; in other words, God wants you to be saved. Some might ask, “saved from what or whom”? At one time, the children of Israel sought God’s protection from other nations:
- 1 Chronicles 16:35 (NCV)
- Say to him, “Save us, God our Savior [KJV: salvation], and bring us back and save us from other nations. Then we will thank you and will gladly praise you.”
God said…
I, even I, am the Lord, And besides Me there is no savior. Isaiah 43:11 (NKJV)
And again, he said…
But I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt. Therefore, you must not acknowledge any God but me; except me, there is no Savior. 5 I cared for you in the wilderness, in the dry desert where no water was. 6 When they were fed, they became satisfied; when they were satisfied, they became proud; as a result, they forgot me! Hosea 13:4-6 (NET)
The focus of this lesson is to determine who saves our souls from the penalty [payment; wages] for sin (Romans 6:23), eternal [spiritual] death.
- Romans 5:9 (NIRV)
- The blood of Christ has made us right with God. So we are even more sure that Jesus will save us from God’s anger.

One and only savior
Is God our savior, or is Jesus our savior? That is for you to decide. My task is to give you the Scriptures. Ask the Lord to reveal this truth to you [see Ephesians 1:17; Matthew 11:27; Colossians 2:2-3].
Jesus said, “no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son decides to reveal him” {from Matthew 11:27 (NET)}. A key scripture that might help is 1 John 5:20. We know that the Son of God has come, and has given us an understanding, that we know him who is true, and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”
So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me, either, even though I’m in prison for him. With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News. 9 For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus.
10 And now he has made all of this plain to us by the appearing of Christ Jesus, our Savior. He broke the power of death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News. 11 And God chose me to be a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of this Good News. 2 Timothy 1:8-11 (NLT)

- 2 Peter 1:1 (ISV)
- From: Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus, the Messiah. To: Those who have received faith that is as valuable as ours through the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus the Messiah.
The truth about the Savior
Today, in Bethlehem, the city of David, the promised Savior was born: he is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11 (Remedy)
It is only through Jesus, our merciful God and Savior, that we can escape from His anger. So, since He is offering to save you from the punishment of sin, kindly accept it. It comes with suffering, just as Christ did, but it’s worth it!
So then, since Christ suffered physical pain, you must arm yourselves with the same attitude he had, and be ready to suffer, too. For if you have suffered physically for Christ, you have finished with sin. 2 You won’t spend the rest of your lives chasing your own desires, but you will be anxious to do the will of God. 1 Peter 4:1-2 (NLT)
Now you have the truth about the one and only Savior, Jesus! Remember, Jesus loves you and wants to save you. I pray that you have enjoyed and will make the most of this Bible lesson. Blessings to you and your loved ones—♥ Tim. ☺
