Jesus Became A Human: This Is What Love Is

Jesus was God - Jesus became a human

STM Bible Snack

John 1:1 and 14 [read John 1:1-4 and 14-18 (1 and 14)]
1 In the beginning the Word already existed; the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 14 The Word became a human being and, full of grace and truth, lived among us. We saw his glory, the glory which he received as the Father’s only Son. (GNT)
KJV: 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Paraphrased
1 In the beginning was Jesus—God’s very thoughts made audible and visible—and Jesus was with God, and Jesus was God. 14 Jesus became a real human being, and he established his temple—the temple of his body—among us. We have seen the glory of his character—the character of the One and Only true God. He came from God, and perfectly revealed the Father who is the source of all grace and truth. (Remedy)

Christ is God

Bible Background Commentary: The blessings Paul had assigned to believers in Jesus (Romans 8:2, 15, 18, 29) belonged to Israel, according to the Old Testament. By recognizing Christ as God (NIV and other translations of Romans 9:5; cf. Romans 1:25 for the same construction), Paul makes the point even more emphatically: God himself came to humanity through Israel.
Romans 9:5 [read Romans 9:5 (5)]
It was their ancestors that God chose to make great many years ago. And Christ himself, as a man, was born to an Israelite family. Christ is God, who rules over all things. We should praise him for ever! This is true! Amen. (EASY)
KJV: Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.
Romans 8:3 [read Romans 8:1-11 (3)]
God has done what was impossible for the Law, since it was weak because of selfishness. God condemned sin in the body by sending his own Son to deal with sin in the same body as humans, who are controlled by sin. (CEB)
KJV: For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

Facts about the Trinity

Many people have doubts about the nature of God. Especially how the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit relate to each other. The concept of God being three distinct persons contributes to the confusion.

  1. The Bible does not contain the word trinity. However, it is in the 1582 Douay-Rheims Bible’s preface to 1 John 1:1 but it is not part of scripture.
  2. According to: “the truth that in the unity of the Godhead, there are Three Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,”. But according to the Bible, only the Son became a person (human being). Of course, man can create any term and definition to meet his needs. However, we should rely on God’s word for spiritual things.
  3. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are the three distinct entities that the Bible plainly says are the one God. Of course, one must be mindful that God is a spirit, and He can take on any form as He desires. Doing so does not change who he is.

God with us

Matthew 1:23 [read Matthew 1:18-25 (23)]
Behold, a virgin will conceive, and will bear a son, and thou shalt call his name Emmanuel, which is interpreted, Our God with us. (Murdock)
KJV: Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Isaiah 7:14 [read Isaiah 7:10-25 (14)]
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; behold, a virgin shall conceive in the womb, and shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Emmanuel. (Brenton)
KJV: Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

The great mystery: God (Jesus) became a human

God was the one who became human. Because manifest means to show oneself. Therefore, God showed Himself as a man.
1 Timothy 3:16 [read 1 Timothy 3:14-16 (16)]
God’s plan is very great as we all know. Here it is: we saw God as a man; God’s Spirit proved he was right; angels saw him; the nations were told about him; people of the world believed in him; God took him up into heaven. (WE)
KJV: And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
The Godhead with a simple example of oneness that is contrary to the Trinity concept.

Jesus is the Father because He is God

In thoughts, purposes, and essence, Jesus and the Father are one. Similar to how I am Tim, a human being, a father, a servant, and a son. Hence, I have three unique identities, but for identification, I have a given name.

  • As a father, I am in authority over my children.
  • My role as a son makes me submissive to my parents.
  • As a human being, I can take on various roles.

Taking on different roles does not change who I am. It’s the same way with our God!

John 17:21 [read John 17:20-26 (21)]
Father, I pray that all who believe in me can be one. You are in me and I am in you. I pray that they can also be one in us. Then the world will believe that you sent me. (ERV)
KJV: That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

This Is What Love Is

1 John 4:10 [read 1 John 4:10 (10)]
This is what love is: it is not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the means by which our sins are forgiven. (GNT)
KJV: Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

So, my friends, our God is not a monster or weird. He revealed Himself in various ways, so we would trust Him. He is a loving God who cared enough to become one of His creations to save us. Dear ones, this is what love is when our creator, Jesus, became a human to restore our relationship! Thank you for taking the time to read this Bible snack. I urge you to make full use of it. Blessings to you and your loved ones— Tim. ☺
